George Perez, CEO of St. Joseph Memorial made it clear that St. Joseph was not interested in taking on any more financial responsibility relationships with regard to building OR operationg other hospitals in this area. In fact, St. Joseph is in competition for present patients of Sonoma Hospital. In that regard, two days after the meeting you reference, District residents received from St. Jo a marketing mailer touting its medical capabilities in an obvious effort to lure more Sonoma Valley patients. While we all hoped that St. Jo could have been persuaded to cooperate with us in solving our hospital problem, the Coalition has to proceed and deal with the reality, which is St. Jo is simply not interested.
